Departure checklist
1. Do I need a passport and/or a visa to travel abroad?
A passport is required both for purposes of entry into a foreign country and for readmission back into your country of take-off. Entry requirements will vary depending on whether you are studying or working abroad, travelling as a tourist, or citizen of a foreign country.
2. How do I find information on safety and health conditions abroad?
You can get in-depth information about safety and health conditions of the country you are travelling from the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They issue a travel advisory, too, letting you know about potential hazards such as crime, road safety, political instability, and terrorism.
3. Do I need special shots, medications, or other health precautions in order to travel abroad?
Depending on where you are traveling (especially for less-developed regions), you might need vaccines against hepatitis A and B, chickenpox, pneumonia, typhoid fever, yellow fever, meningitis, Japanese encephalitis, or rabies and special medication against malaria.
